Canada Study Permit: The proof of funds guide for 2026

May 25, 2026 · 1 min read · QCS Editorial

Canada’s study permit path requires robust financial planning under the new 2026 guidelines. IRCC now expects applicants to demonstrate access to at least CA$20,635 for living expenses, in addition to tuition fees. If you are using a sponsor, ensure they are close family members (preferably parents) and provide a comprehensive affidavit of sponsorship alongside business registration certificates, tax clearances, and property deeds. The key is proving the “source of funds” — unexplained large deposits in your bank statement will lead to automatic refusal. Structure your narrative clearly in your Letter of Explanation.
